Swagbucks Review – Is Swagbucks a Scam?
Many of you have probably heard of Swagbucks and wondered if they are for real or if Swagbucks is a scam. Well, let me tell you right off the bat that they are NOT a scam! In fact, they have been pretty good for me and I’ve already earned enough “Swag Bucks” (SB) for over $200 worth of Amazon gift cards which I have already redeemed and spent. They’ve actually handed out over $131 million worth of goodies since they were introduced 8 years ago.
So What is Swagbucks?
Swagbucks is an online rewards program where you perform several simple tasks to earn virtual currency called “Swag Bucks” (SB) which you can redeem for real gift cards for places like Amazon, Starbucks, Old Navy, JC Penny, iTunes, and many more retailers. Unfortunately they don’t give you cash but you can redeem for a PayPal gift card which is pretty much the same as cash as you can hook it up to your bank account and withdraw it.
I Like Rewards! What Do I Have to Do?
There are ten ways Swagbucks allows you to quickly earn SB. Most of them you’d be doing on a regular basis anyway without Swagbucks so might as well get something extra out of it.
Let’s take a look at the ten ways:
1. Shop Online Through Their Site
The first way and the best way to accumulate SB super fast is by shopping online. You do this by going into Swagbucks and going to their “Shop” section which lists a bunch of online retailers and the amount of SB you’ll earn at each. For example, currently they have a promotion where they’ll give you 6 SB per $1 spent (usually they give 3 SB per $1). That equates to 6% cash back! Not bad considering you would have shopped online and not get anything back in the first place.
They have a ton of stores and have frequent promotions so before you purchase anything online make sure you check out if the store is listed to save some extra cash. They also have a browser plugin that you can install that automatically detects whether you’re on a site that offers SB credits and displays the promo so you don’t have to always go to the “Shop” section to look for retailers before shopping.
2. Searching Online
Everyday you use search engines like Google, Yahoo, or Bing. Well if you use the SwagBucks search engine, you can earn SB for something you do everyday! Their search engine is powered by Yahoo so you’ll still get quality results. The way they reward SB seems random so for example maybe after you search 10 times you’ll be awarded 5 SB. The amount seems random too but just think of how quickly you can accumulate SB everyday. You only need 500 SB to redeem for a $5 gift card.
The best way to earn this way is to set as your default search engine. That way, you don’t have to manually go into SwagBucks each time. I always forget to use the SwagBucks search engine and just search directly in the browser. By setting it as the default search engine, I won’t have to think about it anymore.
Another great way to earn SB is by completing surveys. They usually take around 10 mins to complete and the SB amount varies. Once in awhile they have a features survey that will pay you a lot of SB. Keep in mind that you must first qualify in order to take part in the survey as companies want information from people who fit the profile they are targeting. So for example if they are trying to get information from people who use makeup, I wouldn’t qualify since I’m a guy and I don’t use makeup. Nothing wrong if you do, but I personally don’t.
As you can see in the sample above, the featured survey gives you 5,000 SB and takes about 30 mins to complete. That’s equivalent to $50 in gift cards in 30 mins!
4. Watch Videos
Get paid to watch videos??? That’s right, they actually will PAY YOU to watch videos. Unfortunately you don’t earn very much but if you have time to kill you can search through their various categories to see if there are any videos that interest you and earn some SB.
5. Play Games
What? They pay me to watch videos and now they pay me to play games??? Yup! They used to have a large variety of games but looks like they dwindled it down to their in-house games. You won’t earn much from this but you can check them out for fun.
6. Print Grocery Coupons
Yes, not only do you save money by using the coupons, you actually get paid to use them! They have a variety of great coupons that will help you save money. You also get 1 SB for each one you print. Not a lot, but the deals they provide seem pretty awesome!
7. Online Coupons
Not only do they have grocery coupons, they have online coupons as well. Shop online and enter their coupons to receive promos or special discounts. You’ll also earn SB on every dollar you spend so it’s a great way to both save and earn at the same time!
8. Take Part in Offers
SwagBucks provides various offers. Some are for signing up, for free trials, or using products/services. They often have offers that will pay you a lot of SB so keep a lookout for those as this is a great way to accumulate your SB fast.
9. Daily Poll
There’s a simple daily poll that is posted where you vote and earn 1 SB. It’s not much but it only takes a few seconds out of your day and can eventually add up over the year.
10. SwagBucks Codes
They post various codes on their social media outlets, newsletter emails, and browser extensions. The value varies but it’s a nice little way of getting free SB just by entering a simple code.
Redeeming SwagBucks for Goodies!
OK now the good part. We now have a bunch of SB from all the various methods. Gimme my goodies! Here are the 4 ways you can redeem you SB.
1. Gift Cards
This is probably what the majority of us are collecting SB for. Like I said, they have a wide variety of gift cards to choose from. I just took a screen shot of some of them and the most popular by far is the Amazon gift card where you can pretty much buy anything. But you can also get a PayPal gift card if you want cash instead by connecting it to your bank account and withdrawing from your PayPal account.
2. Give to Charity
You can also use your SB to donate to charity. There’s a bunch of worthy causes which you can select from and donate to. I recommend donating a portion of your earnings to charities once in awhile.
3. Impact Actions
If you want to make a difference, you can use your SB on various actions like providing clean water for a day, creating a bee habitat, feeding rescued puppies, etc. These actions will directly affect those in need and is a good way of you giving back.
4. Sweepstakes Galore!
If you’re a gambler and you think you have the luck you can enter the several sweepstakes SwagBucks offers. Entries cost as low as 2 SB but the payout can be huge! For example you can buy 1 entry into the $2,000 Amazon.com gift card for only 4 SB (equivalent to $0.04)!
Of course the more you enter the more chances you get to win. Some have a limited number of entries so your chances of winning can be higher. Test you luck!
SwagBucks is definitely not a scam. And it’s proven because they actually gave me my gift cards! They’ve been around for over 8 years and have consistently grew in popularity so that shows that they are indeed the real thing. They’ve paid out over $131 million worth of gift cards and that number is growing.
There’s a variety of ways to earn SB and with some of them you can accumulate them very fast. I like how I’m able to earn SB while doing things that I would normally do anyway like search online or buy products so it doesn’t really change anything I do. It’s just an added bonus to be earning while I perform those daily tasks.
You definitely won’t become a millionaire or be able to support yourself with SwagBucks but it’s a nice way to help save some money and also earn to reward yourself.
